Here’s a useful checklist for coming events:-

We need contributions of cakes, flapjacks, biscuits and similar for the cake stall. Let Ros know if you are able to provide something.

Donations of bottles (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and items of tackle either brand new or nearly new. Needed now.
All Leamington Angling Members are invited to the Members Day at Jubilee Pools. We are expecting a good number of anglers, friends and families so, if possible, get together in one car with others so that we have enough parking space. A great day out. If you have a friend who hasn’t tried Leamington Angling waters yet, bring them along.
Top Carping – Mark Hutchinson (Free Spirit, Daiwa, Mainline) will be showing a new long range Free Spirit feeder rod from peg 21. Max Hubbard will be on the point, demonstrating rigs, baits etc. Nick Adams (A2 Baits, Snag Tackle) will be showing various rigs and techniques from peg 4. Have you noticed that there are a few anglers who seem to catch far more carp than us ordinary folk? Here’s a chance to find out how they do it!
Also pole fishing demonstration from committee experts Ron Storr and Kelvin Tallett.
BBQ – It’s a well-known fact that food tastes better outdoors so the excellent BBQ will be in action on the day.
There’s nothing quite like a nice homemade cake and there will be plenty on sale on the day. Don’t dilly dally, they sell out fast. Also a small supply of the famous Tomlow Bees honey. If you are handy with baking, we need contributions of cakes, flapjacks, biscuits and similar for the stall. Let Ros know if you are able to provide something.
Get Fishing Awards – Angling Trust. Leamington Angling Member Dave Evans is the Angling Development Officer for the Angling Trust and will be arranging fishing sessions on the day, together with Elliott Laming and Steve Tanner. Bring along any kids or adults who would like to have a go at fishing. It’s all free.
Grand Tackle & Bottle Tombola – The Grand Tackle and Bottle Tombola will be in the marquee. Obviously we are going to need donations of bottles (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and items of tackle either brand new or nearly new. We are going to need these items during the week before the 22nd because they all need to be labelled with numbered. Please give to Ros or Anthony
Supported by our friends at your local tackle shops.
Bargain Tackle stall will be on site. Lots of recycled items of tackle. If you have something you would like to donate, bring it along. All proceeds to Association restocking and maintenance as usual.
See you there!

Rod Licence Renewal
All anglers need to be reminded that they need to renew their rod licence and for a lot of us, it will be around this time of year. The 12 month licence, which is the one that most of us buy, is now valid for 365 days from the date of purchase, so it’s a good idea to put the date in your diary for next year.
Be aware that there are some dodgy websites which charge extra for supplying a rod licence. Don’t be deceived! Only use this site……
Hope you are well.
A rogue 19-11 Common that gate crashed my afternoon Tench fishing last Sunday.
On light tackle it was a spirited fight to say the least.
Might see you Sunday if you are about at the open day.
