Leamington Angling Newsletter November 2020

Hi Anthony,

Loved your latest newsletter. Here is Danel catching a big Zander in Stratford. Sorry the picture does not show the full length, he was too excited!!!

We were using a Rapala crankbait with his spinning rod.

Pedro & Danel

Thomas – First Lure Caught Fish – Grand Union

Caught it on a 5cm real ale korum squirmz in the margin of the canal slowly bouncing it along the bottom. Caught by the blue lais at long Itchington. Nice for my first lure caught fish.

Martin Mitchell – Avon Pike at Stratford

Got to Stratford at 6:30am before the sun came up, set up two dead bait rods, one with lamprey and the other with half a mackerel, just after the sun came up I landed this 16lb perfect pike. I stayed till 12 and landed another 2 on the bait rods, the best being just over  11lb and the smallest being 7lb, I also lost 2 others after a brief battle. I managed to bag a decent pike also on a jerk bait.

At Around 7:30am the water came alive with pike strikes. Saw numerous bait fish being taken. All in all an outstanding session. The pike are starting to get their winter bellies and getting on the feed.

Can’t wait to get back on the bank and see if there‘s anything bigger in there.. biggest pike I’ve had from that stretch of the Stratford Avon.

Hoping to check all others when closed and replace any showing signs of deterioration along with peg top up with bark chips and boards scrubbed clean . Always a pleasure to help out.

Being out in the fresh air fishing is a great way to relax and recharge the batteries. However, we must not forget that the dreaded virus has not gone away, so it is vital that we continue with social distancing, hand washing and using a mask as and when appropriate. We all like to compare notes with fellow anglers and say hello to another human but don’t encroach onto other’s pegs or get too close. When you get back from fishing, wash your hands thoroughly as you may have handled a gate or fence that others have touched. In any case, you need to get that bream slime off your hands!

Your bailiffs are still going round regularly. If you are fishing one of the pools where you pay a member’s day ticket or you need a guest ticket for your friend, you can either pay online before you go, https://www.leamingtonangling.co.uk/member-s-day-tickets-guest-tickets or, if you want to pay cash, please take the right money as we don’t want to be giving change. Leave your money at the back of your peg and then your bailiff will not need to disturb you.
Stay safe, Anthony
