Royal Leamington Spa Angling Association 125th Anniversary

One evening way back in June 1890, a group of local fishermen met in a coffee house to discuss forming an angling club. Thus the Royal Leamington Spa Angling Association was born. The main principle was “the acquisition of fishing and the preservation of fish for the benefit of members in accordance with the rules” and that is still the first line of our constitution today.

In order to celebrate our 125th anniversary, we are holding an Anniversary Day at Jubilee Pools to which all members are invited.

Sunday 14th June 2015

There will be all sorts to interest and entertain the whole family including:-

  • Invitation Match and weigh-in

Nick Adams – Carp and Rainbows

NickAdamsCarpJubileeMarch2015 NickAdamsRainbow

Hi Anthony,

There was certainly carp gold at the end of this rainbow today,  I had 9 carp from peg 9 at Jubilee Pools Island pool, all commons ranging from a superb little baby common of only 1lb 9 oz to this stunning 23lb 10oz beauty!

All falling to Hallum baits P2 boilies, fishing tight to the treeline, now made so much easier and safer, thanks to the work party’s hard work on removing that massive tree stump snag during the close season!

Regards Nick Adams

James Timerick has a great day at Jubilee, Horseshoe Lake

Hello,

We are newbies to your waters and to this type of fishing and had our first couple of sessions of many to Jubilee Pools.  My son and I got to walk and talk to the very helpful Roz who gave us some good advice and motivation for my son James to catch one of his dream fish, the formidable tench.  So on this session started at 8am on bank holiday Monday with a method feeder with pellets and maggots on the hook. First came a 4lb bream after 40 mins then another, but two of his dreams came true a lovely common carp that was too lively to weigh or handle so back he went. Then came a run which as soon as he struck he nearly had his arms pulled out.

I stood behind him with my hand covering the rod not touching, just in case but left him to it to land it himself , after quite a struggle he did it.  Made a 11 year olds fishing dream come true. We would have thought that that was enough for the day but no, he did not want to leave even though we had promised to be home for dinner. Two hours after the promised arrival at home, we strolled in at 7pm. His mum couldn’t be cross with the wide beaming smile across his face.

Darren Cox and Steve Martin

@ Jubilee

Hi Anthony

Just a note to say thanks for allow Darren and I to us Snitterfield Res for today’s roach feature. I’ve attached a catch shot of Darren with his roach and skimmer haul.

Also, I no longer work for DHP, but I am doing freelance features for them, plus I’m now the Midlands reporter for the Angler’s Mail – responsible for the Where to Fish pages and Warwickshire venue’s Tactical Briefs.

I have already featured the club in the local angling club section, which appeared in the March 17 – 23 issue.

I would like to feature more Leamington venues in the Tactical Briefs.

Today’s feature with Darren will appear in the June issue of Coarse Fishing Answers – out the second week of May.

Thanks once again. Best regards

Steve Martin

Hi Anthony, just a few lines to let you know that the recently introduced Tench in Horseshoe at Jubilee are making their presence known.I float fished today Friday 17th using mashed bread and micro”s with double red maggot on the hook 8 to 10 yards out and had 53 of them !!!!!  between 1 and 3 1/2 lbs also had 22 skimmers  between 3/4 and 3lbs. I write down the weight and species of each fish (i know, sad aint it !!) the Tench weighed 78lbs and the Bream 38lbs. Superb 30lbs common – Paul Claridge

A good day at Jubilee Pools 30.04.2015

Hi Anthony,

Here is the article as promised.

PaulClaridge 30lbs 3oz Jubileec PaulClaridge Jubilee

I had a very good day fishing at Jubilee Pools today netting in total 153lbs of carp and catching my largest UK carp ever, weighing in at 30lbs and 3 ounces, as seen in the photo below. I caught 12 carp in total – two of which were baby carp, it is good to see that they are spawning well. After netting the 30lb I continued my good spell with a 20.5lb common  and then a 22lb 7oz mirror, seen in the second photo below. Sure beats a trip to the gym!

Regards Paul Claridge
