Jeff Hatt – Silver Bream

Our good friend Jeff Hatt, seen here helping at one of our netting parties, has written a very interesting article for us about the elusive Silver Bream. Many of us will have caught one of these little blighters without realising exactly what it was. Now Jeff has shown us how to identify them.

 see Jeff’s article here.

Steve Martin and Steve Phillips from Total Coarse Fishing Magazine had a great day at Jubilee and the full article is in the August issue of Total Coarse Fishing.

Steve Martin, Deputy editor,  said “We had a good day on Jubilee. I have to admit that it’s my favourite venue, as I love my bream fishing.”

River Avon Carp from Wasperton

After a few times trying managed a river Carp at Wasperton.

Surface fished bread crust and weighed 9lb 15oz.

Best Regards,

Mick Newey

And Barbel too……..

Was good to finally meet you at the AGM this year, I did promise you a photo
didn’t I so here it is…
I had a fin-perfect 7lb barbel last week from Wasperton (pic attached). This is
the smallest fish I’ve ever had from this stretch but very welcome all the same
as the fish here are gorgeous. I lost a bigger one the week previous, it bolted
and completely straightened a “super strong” carp hook! I was just
reaching for the net too! You can’t win them all eh?

Carp steals Rod

Hi Anthony,

On Wednesday evening I had a rod pulled in to the water at Jubilee top pool so it is sitting somewhere on the lake bed, hopefully not still attached to the fish that `stole` it.

There is a tiny hope that one of the long distance carp boys will hook the rod, it is a barbel rod and a brand new reel, I would reward anyone who retrieved it.

On a happier note I caught 3 beautiful golden tench around the 3lb mark, never seen one before, they are magnificent.

All the best

Frank Lea

Jubilee Carp

As I wandered round the island lake at Jubilee, I came across Ken Leonard with his rod bent into a good fish………

…..a cracking 15.5 lbs mirror. Long distance casting? Not at all. Just a gentle under arm swing.
